His academic career includes positions as Lecturer at the Marche Polytechnic University (2000–2002), Assistant Professor (2002–2006), and Associate Professor (2006–2015) at the University of Cagliari. From 2015 to 2023, he served as the Director of the Hortus Botanicus Karalitanus (HBK), the university’s botanical garden.
